Once upon a time, deep in a forest where mushrooms grow tall and roses never sleep, something magical arrived.
No bigger than a rosebud. No louder than a breath.
The fairies felt her before they saw her — a tiny flicker of light tucked into a basket of soft pink wool. They came from every corner of the garden to peek inside.
"She's here," one whispered. "The littlest fairy is finally here."
At just one month old, she made her first journey into The Enchanted Forest.
I tucked her into a basket lined with a soft pink blanket and nestled her beneath mushrooms taller than she was, surrounded by blooming roses and dressed in delicate fairy wings that seemed much too large for such a tiny baby.
For fifteen years, I've welcomed fairies into this forest.
I've watched little girls step into their fairy gowns, wearing flower crowns and fairy wings as they became part of their own magical stories.
I treasured every one of those moments.
But this time was different.
This fairy belongs to me.
After four wonderful grandsons, I was blessed with a granddaughter. The moment she arrived, I knew this would not be just another fairy session.
I wanted to tell her story—not in a single afternoon, but across the years.
Each time she returns to The Enchanted Forest, there will be a new chapter to discover—a little more wonder, a few more adventures, and a little more of the girl she is becoming.
Year by year, these portraits will come together to create a storybook all her own.
For now, though, she is simply the littlest fairy.
Fast asleep beneath the roses.
The first chapter of a four-year storybook adventure.
And someday, when the final page is written, I will sit beside her and read The Littlest Fairy to her.
While The Littlest Fairy is a four-year project just for my granddaughter, Fairy Sessions and newborn portraits are available every day for families throughout Mars, Cranberry Township, Wexford, Fox Chapel, and Butler County. Each session can be photographed in the studio among my giant mushrooms and roses or a more natural setting on my woodland property, however your own little fairy imagines her story.
