It is a very good name. Perfect actually. But I did not always have a name.
Names are very special things. And Forever Bears must wait — patiently and quietly — until exactly the right child comes along to give them one.
Would you like to hear how I got mine?
I had been waiting for a while.
Not impatiently. We Forever Bears are very good at waiting. We know that the right child always finds us eventually — and that rushing the most important things in life is never a good idea.
So I sat quietly beneath an old maple tree on a beautiful private woodland property near Mars Pennsylvania. I watched the morning turn to afternoon as I felt the soft spring air on my fur.
And then I saw her!
She came running towards me — curly blonde hair, brown bow, a beautiful red fair isle dress chosen from Marsha's children's wardrobe collection — and a pair of blue eyes that missed absolutely nothing.
She stopped right beside the tree and looked at me very carefully — the way only a small child can look at something, with complete and total attention.
Then she picked me up.
And I knew.
This was my girl.
I leaned close and whispered my secret — the one that only she could hear.
"I don't have a name yet. Only you can give me one. I have been waiting right here — for a little girl just like you."
She looked up at her parents — that serious blue eyed look that meant she was thinking very hard. They leaned in together quietly. A few soft words were exchanged.
And then she looked back at me.
"I'll call you Berry," she said.
Not a question. Not a guess. Just a fact — decided together as a family in a quiet moment at the edge of the woods and stated with the gentle certainty of a little girl who knew she had chosen exactly right"
It was the most perfect name I had ever heard.
I saw a lot of things from the crook of Anna's arm that afternoon.
I saw a field of purple wildflowers that stretched further than either of us expected — and Anna walking through them slowly, looking back over her shoulder as if she wanted to remember every single detail. I wanted to remember it too.
I saw an old wooden gate at the edge of the meadow — and Anna pushing right through it without a moment's hesitation, because that is exactly what adventurous little girls do when they find a gate in the middle of a woodland. I held on tight.
I saw a butterfly drift past overhead — and Anna's face tilt up toward the sky, mouth open, completely lost in wonder. The kind of wonder that cannot be taught or planned or photographed on purpose. It simply happens — and if you are lucky enough to be there with your camera it takes your breath away.
I felt the quiet of the old oak tree as Anna sat down beside it, opened a well worn book and looked at pictures with me. I loved every moment.
I think Anna knew that already.
And then I saw the tea party.
This was not just any tea party.
There was a proper little table. Proper little chairs. A full china tea set with delicate pink roses. Fresh wildflowers in a vase — picked from the very field we had just walked through together.
And matching pink hats.
One for Anna.
One for me.
Because Forever Bears always get their own hat at a tea party. That is a very important rule and I was very glad someone knew it.
Anna stood at that table and looked straight into the camera with an expression I will never forget. Quiet. Confident. Completely at home in her story.
Her parents watched from nearby.
I am quite certain I heard one of them take a very deep breath.
I sat in my chair in my pink lace dress and felt very proud indeed.
My favorite part of our story — the part I think about most — is what comes next.
Weeks from now a fine art Forever Bear Storybook Album will arrive at Anna's door. Twelve inches wide and eight inches tall. Our story written on the left page. Anna's portrait on the right. Every moment from the wildflower field to the old gate to the oak tree to the tea party — preserved forever as fine art that her family will read together at bedtime for years to come.
And sitting right there beside it on the shelf —
Me.
Berry.
Ready for the next adventure.
Because that is the most wonderful thing about a Forever Bear.
The adventure never ends.

I am Marsha — the photographer and storyteller behind Always Remember Photography near Mars Pennsylvania.
I have photographed many children over the years. But there is something about the moment a little girl finds her Forever Bear that I truly love. The way she looks at her. The way she holds her. The way she whispers a name as if she has known it her whole life.
Anna and Berry's story is one I will carry with me for a very long time.
Every Forever Bear Storybook Experience I create is completely unique — commissioned specifically for your child. Their personality. Their spirit. Their story. No two are ever the same.
Every detail is thoughtfully considered — including what your child wears. My carefully selected children's wardrobe collection is available to all Forever Bear families in Mars, Cranberry Township, Wexford and Fox Chapel Pennsylvania. From the moment your child arrives she is dressed like she stepped right out of the pages of a storybook — so you never have to worry about finding the perfect outfit. We have it waiting for her. If you prefer to provide your own wardrobe I will be available for advice or suggestions.
I spend weeks planning and days creating each commissioned Forever Bear Storybook Experience. The photography is just the beginning. The editing, the writing, the wardrobe styling, the album design — every single detail is considered and crafted with care.
This is not a portrait session.
This is a piece of childhood. Preserved forever.
I would love more information on a Forever Bear Storybook Experience.
