Five Years, Five Storybook Albums: A Family’s Christmas Story

Five years ago, a family with three little boys made the two-hour journey from Erie — not simply to see Santa Claus, but to step into a Christmas story created especially for them.

They thought they were coming for one unforgettable Santa Experience.

None of us knew it was only the beginning.

2021 Three Brothers Begin a Santa Tradition

Five years ago, a family with three little boys made the two-hour journey from Erie — not simply to see Santa Claus, but to step into a Christmas story created especially for them.

They thought they were coming for one unforgettable Santa Experience.

None of us knew it was only the beginning.

When they returned the following Christmas, there was someone new beside them. A baby sister had joined the family. The three little boys we had met the year before were now big brothers, proudly introducing their baby sister to Santa.

That Christmas, they added a second custom Storybook Album to their collection. Each album holds a complete Christmas adventure of its own. But when the books are placed together, they become something even more meaningful — a growing series that tells the story of their children's lives.

The first volume began with three little boys. The next welcomed their baby sister into the story.

By their third Christmas with us, the baby who had once watched from the floor was standing beside her brothers, ready to take part in Santa's adventure herself.

They have returned every Christmas since. Each year brings an entirely new Santa Experience and another custom Storybook Album created especially for their family. The setting changes. The adventure changes. Most of all, the children change.

With every new album, another volume is added to their family's Christmas story — preserving not only what their children looked like, but who they were during that brief season of childhood.

2024 A Christmas Tradition for the Whole Family

Last Christmas marked their fifth visit and the fifth Storybook Album in their growing collection. The baby girl who first appeared in their second book was now right in the middle of the adventure, gathered around Santa's magical toy bag with her three growing brothers.

Place the five albums beside one another, and the changes are impossible to miss. Little faces have grown older. Three small boys have become protective big brothers. A baby sister has grown into a little girl with her own place in the story.

2025 Five Years of Magical Santa Memories

This year, they will make the two-hour journey from Erie once again for their sixth Christmas with us — and this time, they'll step into Santa's Elf Academy, our newest Santa Experience.

Last year at her viewing appointment, their mother asked Daniel a question that made us smile.

"Is it going to look funny when I'm still bringing them here when they're 18?"

We don't think it will look funny at all. We hope she does. Because someday these four children will be nearly grown, but you are never too old to help Santa build toys in his workshop. Their family will have an entire collection of Storybook Albums preserving the years when they still believed — when three brothers welcomed a baby sister, and a two-hour drive from Erie became part of their family's Christmas tradition.

Several of our families have now returned for five years or longer. Each one has a story we could tell — babies becoming toddlers, children growing into new roles, families changing one Christmas at a time.

What those families may not realize is that, somewhere along the way, they became part of our Christmas tradition, too. We begin every season looking forward to their familiar faces. We wonder how much the children have grown, what they will remember, and how they will react when they see Santa again.

It is one beautiful book becoming two. Then three. Then five. A collection that begins with three little boys and grows to include a baby sister, new adventures, and all the fleeting Christmases of childhood.

Five years ago, this family opened the first book in their story with us. This Christmas, they will begin the sixth — and if they are still walking through our doors when those children are eighteen, we will be very happy to add another volume to their collection.

2025 Their Family’s Christmas Story Continues

After watching this family’s story grow for five years, I can’t help but wonder which families will begin their own Christmas tradition with us this year.

Daniel and I welcome only a small number of families into our Santa Experience each Christmas. From our fine art portrait studio near Mars, PA, we have had the joy of creating Christmas memories for families throughout Butler County, the greater Pittsburgh area and much farther away.

Only a handful of sessions remain for this season. If you can imagine your children beginning a Christmas story of their own, we would love to welcome your family.
