The Wardrobe Closet

.The Role of a Wardrobe Closet in Fine Art Children’s Photography

One of the first questions parents ask when planning a children’s portrait session is, “What should my child wear?”
And the honest answer is—wardrobe matters far more than most people realize.

In my Fine Art Children’s Photography sessions near Mars and Cranberry Township, wardrobe is never an afterthought. It is one of the very first considerations when planning a session. What a child wears helps set the tone, creating a timeless look while keeping the focus exactly where it should be—on your child.

That is why I created my Children’s Wardrobe Closet: to make planning effortless for parents while helping me create the storybook-style portraits my work is known for throughout the Pittsburgh area.

Why Wardrobe Is One of the Most Important Parts of Planning a Session

Too often, wardrobe is treated as a minor detail rather than something that helps bring the story to life.

When clothing is thoughtfully chosen—neutral, timeless, and comfortable—it blends seamlessly into the scene instead of competing for attention. Just as important, it has to work for the child. If an outfit is itchy, stiff, or uncomfortable, a child will focus on how they feel instead of relaxing and enjoying the experience.

A beautiful portrait doesn’t just happen. It begins with the child and wardrobe that feels natural and intentional, allowing the focus to remain on your child and the story being told.

Inside My Children’s Wardrobe Closet

My children’s wardrobe closet was created to make session planning easy for parents while ensuring every outfit photographs beautifully.

For girls, the wardrobe includes soft, neutral dresses designed to keep the focus on your little girl—not the clothing—along with select vintage pieces that add a timeless, storybook feel.

For boys, I offer a collection of neutral shirts and a range of jeans and overalls in multiple sizes—always a parent favorite for little boys.

Each piece in my wardrobe closet is intentionally selected to support the style of sessions I create—from Fine Art Children’s Sessions to Fairy Sessions and our Magical Santa Sessions.

Fairy Gowns and Princess Gowns

For Fairy Sessions and other storybook-inspired portraits, I offer a collection of  Ella Dynae custom made fairy gowns and princess gowns designed especially for little girls.

When a child puts on one of these gowns, the session becomes more than a photo shoot—it becomes an experience.

A Growing Pajama Wardrobe for Santa Sessions

Each November, my son Daniel and I welcome families into our Magical Santa Sessions, where soft, classic pajamas become part of the magic.

Our pajama wardrobe continues to grow each year, allowing Santa Sessions to feel timeless while offering parents one less detail to worry about.

In Fine Art children’s portraiture, wardrobe is not a detail—it is a deliberate design choice. Each piece is thoughtfully selected to support the story while ensuring your child’s comfort. Whether families choose from my children's wardrobe closet or to purchase their own pieces, I am here to guide them every step of the way.

I am proud to offer this level of thoughtful planning to families in Mars, Cranberry Township, and the greater Pittsburgh area. In my next blog, I’ll share more about intentional wardrobe selection and how this process will continue to challenge and inspire me as an artist.

If you’d like to see how wardrobe comes to life in different sessions, feel free to view my portfolio or contact me with questions — I’m always happy to help you plan a session that feels intentional and beautiful.
