Fine Art Children’s Photography in Mars, Wexford & Cranberry Township
Once upon a time on the woodland trails near Mars and Cranberry Township, two sisters set out on what felt like a storybook adventure. Their session wasn’t just about pretty pictures — it was about capturing their connection, the warmth of sunlight on their backs, and the joy of play unfolding naturally in a space that invites children to play.
Whether you’re planning a session for your child or seeking inspiration for your own storytelling photography, this post shows how wardrobe, environment, and meaningful interaction come together to create portraits families treasure for a lifetime.
The connection between two sisters is a bond I love to photograph — especially when it’s allowed to unfold naturally. During this session, there were no forced poses or expectations. Just one simple request from me:
“Can you hold hands as you walk down this pathway?”
Before they even began to walk, the littlest sister looked up with complete trust, certain her sister would keep her safe.
These are the moments parents hope won’t fade with time. A story-driven session isn’t about sitting children down and asking them to smile for the camera — it’s about capturing the love and trust they share, and preserving the bond that connects them as sisters.
When creating my signature style of portraits, my goal is always to keep the focus on the children. Every other element — wardrobe, props, and location — should add to the story, not distract from it.
Nightgowns & Dresses
Soft fabrics and simple silhouettes create a feeling of innocence and simplicity, keeping the attention where it belongs — on the children and their connection.
Little Brown Shoes
The ground was muddy that day, so we chose shoes that blended naturally into the scene rather than drawing attention away from it.
A Simple Prop
Asking the oldest sister to hold a small teddy bear added to the story without overpowering it — a quiet detail that felt meaningful and natural.
Indoor backdrops can be lovely, but natural spaces — fields, woodland paths, and soft grass — offer endless opportunities for candid moments. In this session:
The girls chased one another beneath the trees
One climbed an old wooden ladder as the other watched
Finally, a tiny sister joined for a warm moment on the grass, sharing books and giggles
My Fine Art Children Sessions invite genuine smiles, curiosity, and connection — the kind of portraits families return to again and again.
