As a Master Photographer specializing in Children's Photography for Mars, Pa and sounding areas, I take great joy in creating portraits of children. Recently, my 2-year-old grandson visited, and with the fresh snowfall, I aimed to capture at least one fine art portrait of him enjoying the winter wonderland. However, as any parent or grandparent knows, working with toddlers comes with its challenges—they have a mind of their own!

My first attempt involved a sled, but my little grandson wasn't interested. Thankfully, my older grandson was there to save the day. His playful antics and laughter helped bring out those precious giggles, creating a moment of joy as his cousin pulled the sled.

Next, we ventured on a walk through the snow. My grandson enjoyed exploring, but he had his own ideas about where he wanted to go, totally ignoring my ideas. Despite these challenges, I always prioritize quality over quantity, especially with a lively 2-year-old who offers limited opportunities to capture those perfect moments. The result was a handful of cherished images—proofs that reflect a nostalgic portrait of a little boy playing in the snow, filled with wonder and simplicity.

After our outdoor adventure, my grandson and I settled in for some reading time—he absolutely loves books. I took the moment to create a bit of magic, capturing him as he was looking at a storybook near my bookcase. I managed to get one good picture to use as a proof, and afterward, he asked for a treat.

As he enjoyed his treat at the counter, he looked up at me with his adorable smile and asked for more. I explained that the treat was a reward for getting his picture taken. Quick to catch on, he hopped down, grabbed the book, ran over to the ladder, and climbed up two steps, ready for another picture. He even playfully tossed the book aside, allowing me to capture a second perfect shot.

So yes, I admit, I’m not above a little bribery when it comes to achieving my creative vision with my grandson!
