No matter how many years I have been a photographer for Mars and Cranberry Township, or how many children I have photographed, I continue to invest in learning from the very best in the world.
Recently, I traveled to Victoria, Canada to attend a Fine Art Children’s Photography workshop with world-renowned artist, Cass Vanhorn, the owner of Noelle Mirabella Photography. Learning alongside one of the top children’s photographers in the world pushes me creatively and strengthens the custom experience I provide for my clients.
But this trip held something even more meaningful.
My daughter and my sweet grandson joined me.
One of the true highlights of the entire experience was being able to photograph the magical Fairy Tree — with my grandson as the subject.
I had seen images Cass created at this tree before arriving, and as a photographer who specializes in Fine Art Fairy Portraits, it immediately captured my imagination. The twisting branches and the soft light filtering through the leaves didn’t just look magical… it felt magical.
And there he was.
Only nine months old, sitting carefully in the tree with a little help from his mama just out of frame — wide-eyed and observant, watching everyone who walked by as if the whole world were one grand adventure waiting to unfold.
Workshops like this don’t just sharpen my camera skills — they ignite my imagination and inspire new ways to tell a child’s story. Every bit of learning I gather each year flows into the magical, timeless portraits I create, from whimsical Fairy Portraits to classic Fine Art Sessions, for families in Mars, Cranberry Township, and throughout the Pittsburgh area.
When families book a custom session, they aren’t just getting photographs — they’re capturing fleeting moments of wonder and turning them into Fine Art Portraits that will live on their walls and in cherished albums for generations.
